Biografia
Edoardo Aruta è nato a Roma nel 1981, vive e lavora tra Roma e Venezia.
Ha studiato presso l’Accademia di Belle Arti di Roma e l’Università IUAV di Venezia. Ha lavorato come scenografo e scenotecnico in ambito teatrale e cinematografico, contemporaneamente ha sviluppato una pratica artistica che dal 2003 lo porta ad esporre in vari ambiti a livello nazionale e internazionale. Nel 2013 fonda a Venezia il collettivo artistico Gli Impresari insieme a Marco Di Giuseppe e Rosario Sorbello, è ideatore e co-curatore del progetto Cinema Galleggiante / Acque Sconosciute dal 2020 presentato da Microclima nella Laguna di Venezia. I suoi progetti sono stati presentati al MACRO Museo d’Arte Contemporanea di Roma, alle Gallerie dell’Accademia e alla Fondazione Bevilacqua La Masa di Venezia, al Museo d’Arte Contemporanea Donnaregina – Museo Madre di Napoli, alle Gallerie degli Uffizi e al NAM-NotAMuseum della Manifattura Tabacchi di Firenze e al Centro Cultural Borges di Buenos Aires.
Il mio campo d’interesse si è concentrato sullo studio dei linguaggi dell’arte e su come si determinino in base al rapporto che l’essere umano ha con lo spazio, con la storia e con il contesto sociale che lo accoglie, usando l’atto artistico come un mezzo per fare un’esperienza conoscitiva ed esplorativa dell’ambiente dato. Tale esplorazione ha portato ad includere nella mia pratica vari tipi di linguaggio, dagli approcci più classici della scultura, alla performance, all’installazione, disegno, la fotografia ed alla creazione di spazi alternativi. Negli ultimi anni, la mia ricerca si è concentrata anche su come la produzione artistica venga plasmata dalle condizioni storiche e socio-politiche all’interno di specifici contesti culturali.
Biography
Edoardo Aruta was born in Rome in 1981; he lives and works between Rome and Venice.
He studied at the Academy of Fine Arts in Rome and at Iuav University of Venice. He has worked as a set designer and set designer and technical stage assistant, while simultaneously developing an artistic practice that, since 2003, has led him to exhibit in various contexts at both national and international levels. In 2013, he founded the artistic collective GliImpresari in Venice together with Marco Di Giuseppe and Rosario Sorbello. Since 2020, he has conceived and co-curated the project Cinema Galleggiante / AcqueSconosciute, presented by Microclima in the Venice Lagoon. His projects have been presented at the MACRO Museum of Contemporary Art in Rome; the Galleriedell’Accademiaand the Bevilacqua La Masa Foundation in Venice; Madre – Donnaregina Contemporary Art Museum in Naples; the Uffizi Galleries and NAM–NotAMuseum,Manifattura Tabacchi in Florence; and the Centro Cultural Borges in Buenos Aires.
My practice is grounded in the examination of the phenomena underlying our everyday experience, from our interaction with places to the relationships between people and “objects,” and the possibilities for exploring the real and fictional meanings that surround them. Through an analysis of the nuances of reality, my research investigates the dynamics of desire and focuses on the aesthetic potential of the expressive registers of art. My field of interest has focused on the study of the languages of art and on how they are shaped by the relationship between human beings and space, history, and the social context they inhabit. I approach the artistic act as a means of engaging in a cognitive and exploratory experience of a given environment. This exploration has led me to incorporate a variety of artistic languages into my practice, ranging from more traditional approaches such as sculpture to performance, installation, drawing, photography, and the creation of alternative spaces. In recent years, my research has also focused on how artistic production is shaped by historical and socio-political conditions within specific cultural contexts.
